EVOLUTION
A downloadable game for Windows
Evolution is an early demo of a 2D deckbuilding roguelike built in Python/Pygame.
Fight corrupted creatures, build your deck, defeat bosses, and evolve your cards as you progress through nature-themed story areas.
This started as a learning project. I’m 56 years old and began learning Python because I wanted to build something real instead of only following tutorials. The project grew much larger than expected, and now I’m sharing an early playable version to see if the core idea has potential.
What you can do in the demo
- Play through story-based enemy encounters
- Build and improve your deck over time
- Fight animals, birds, plants and fungal enemies
- Use cards for damage, block, healing, card draw and resource generation
- Defeat bosses to evolve or duplicate cards
- Test different deck strategies
- Try early versions of animations, sound effects and progression systems
Current state
This is not a finished game.
The core loop is playable, but balance, UI polish, sound and music (especially), animations and overall game feel are still being worked on. Some systems are experimental, and some parts may feel rough.
At this stage, feedback is more valuable to me than money. The demo is free, but you can choose to support the project if you want.
Feedback I’m looking for
I would love to know:
- Does the concept feel interesting?
- Is the core deckbuilding loop fun?
- Are the cards and enemies understandable?
- What feels confusing, too easy, too hard or unfinished? (Probably too easy and unbalanced at the moment)
- What should I focus on next?
Thanks for trying the demo. Any honest feedback is appreciated.
